Hello, I'm Neil Morecraft and this is Autom8, and in this module, we're going to take a look at data collection and the importance of data collection and why it's it's important to know where you are before we really think about where you're going. So in this presentation, we're just going to quickly look at this resource here which is found in your Asana template.
So if we dive over into Asana, you'll see we're on this task here. And then in here, you'll find some notes and then the resources that I'm referring to found in here. So the data collection template looks like this, and it's important to spend a little bit of time on this now, because as I say, if you don't know where you are, it's very difficult to start planning where you want to be, and we really need to take stock of where you are first and then everything becomes that much easier.
So, as an example I've given you some listers of sorts of things that we're going to cover during this course. And obviously then my recommendations for what products and services we use and your task at this point is to go through this and start filling this information in. So as an example, domain name register 123-reg that could be GoDaddy, FastHosts, that sort of thing. You may not know, but it's important that you find out equally with your email provider., that gets overlooked a lot of the time actually, because a lot of people will buy their email from the same person they buy their domain from. And if you do buy from 123-reg as an example, the domain names, fine, that's nice and cheap, but the email server is just really not up to scratch.
So a lot of the time, without you even knowing it, you could be sending emails that are just not getting delivered because of the server that they're coming from and all that kind of stuff. So my recommendation there is to, is to do the Google stuff, which of course you have already done. Now you can, of course, as I said, run these in parallel to what you've got at the moment. And then at the end of it, maybe make that migration or do that now, it's entirely up to you. But you definitely want to work through this list and and make a good note of exactly what it is you've got and then ultimately go off and and look at these other new resources to to tell you where you kind of need to be. So we're going to cover all of that in a lot more detail as we go through this module.
There are links in here to all of the different resources, and there's some quick notes there as to why I've chosen them. Certain things like Calendly. For example, if you've already got an online booking system as long as it's got an API, that's fine. We can integrate that with whatever we need to integrate it with. But some systems are old and some systems work better than others. So Calendly, for example, I use because it has multiple calendar connections. So you could have your existing calendar plugged into it. You could have your new calendar plugged into it. I actually run five or six different calendars in my Apple as I think you explained earlier and all of those connect into Calendly. So it keeps a get a good track of of my availability. And then that's accurate when people want to book calls with me.
So, as I say, this data collection process is just something that's maybe going to take your half an hour, just go through this and fill it in when you're done, save that as a new file, pop it into your own Asana workspace. So you can drag it into the task yourself. And then when you've done that, you can take this one off and that's it, and we can move on. So with that in mind, I will see you in the next module.
